Last year, Sue Briggs and I revamped the CCO for English 1050, Cultural Studies, with input from Jamie McBeth-Smith and Stephanie Dowdle. We developed a new syllabus with new writing assignments, created a new schedule for Spring 2010 and reworked the 1050 CCO, all to more clearly show how 1050 is an English Course, not a sociology course, and also to make it more of a diversity course. The course was approved by our department, by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences Curriculum Committee, and the General Education Committee and College Curriculum Committee. We have both been teaching the new version of the course with the new diversity emphasis since Spring 2011 and continue to make more changes to the curriculum every semster.
